2008 French bank Holidays - Public holidays in France
If you're planning a trip to France make sure that you check dates for public and bank holidays. In France the jour férié is always taken on the day on which it falls.
Supermarkets are often open on bank holidays but almost everything else is closed. If the holiday falls on a Tuesday or Thursday many people will take the Monday or Friday off to make a long weekend.
If you're planning to look at property in France it's a good idea to make sure that your househunting trip doesn't coincide with a French bank holiday. Often owners are not available for appointments on public holidays. Something to remember when you're looking for property in France.
