Buy a property to renovate in the Aude

If you have a limited budget and are looking for cheap properties for sale in the Aude your best bet is to buy a village house and renovate it.  Right now you can find village houses in the €40,000 to €100,000 range that are basically habitable.  At some point you will probably want to update the electricity, the plumbing, and the kitchen, and redecorate but in the meantime you have a house in France.  Some of them are in villages where you can get permission to put in a roof terrace so you'll have outdoor space.

For €100,000 and up you can find properties with outside space, a court or small garden, for sale.  Do remember that the more you pay initially the more you get.  More potential.  More charm, a better location, a garden, more space.

Renovation is a tricky word, it means something different to everyone.  If a house needs more than basic decorating, or if it has potential for further development it's in this section.  Some of the properties are conversions, making a barn into a house, for example.
